TO ALL WHO HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING:

Test results from Ryan's PET-scan are in and it is not good:

Lump in his neck is malignant, another lymph node in his chest is malignant, and it has metastasized to one lung. The doctor advised him to quit his job and apply for Social Security Disability, Medicare, and Medicaid. To quote the doctor - "Your only job now is to fight for your life!" His mother is already working those applications. He will likely move to San Antonio to live with his mother for the very immediate future. He already has appointments at M.D. Anderson in Houston where they have leading edge research on stem cell treatment and chemo options. The plan at this time is, once he gets through the appointments at M.D. Anderson, is to move to Houston and engage in that fight for his life head-on. His sister, Alicia, lives in Sugarland (right outside of Houston,) and we will avail ourselves every opportunity to be there as treatment progresses. He is 28 and has never harmed anyone. He is everything I could want in a son. Please pray like you have never prayed in your life!

Ryan's Dad

PS - I have been through this with my late brother and late sister, so it is not like I don't know what I am up against. I just want different results this time! All I can do is to let go and let God.

PPS - I have forwarded your messages to Ryan. Keep them coming, he is not one to give up easily. Understandably, he has been knocked off his feet with this latest revelation, and the impact, I think, has not hit him fully, as yet. He needs me and his mother and sisters to be strong for him right now, and that is just what I have to do; his mother is not weathering so well right now. Your prayers will sustain me and his step-mother, but please pray for his mother and sisters, also, as I know many of you have already. Thank you so much!

Best of luck. MD anderson is the place to be. They saved my life (non-hodgkins lymphoma,) and they offer a ton of state aid to help pay the bill. They also offer cheap to free places to stay during treatment. They have free hospitality apartments with shuttle service to the hospital and there is a lutheren church just down the road in Bellaire that has limitted patient housing that 4 years ago ran 80 bucks a week per room (2 beds +bath with a comunity kitchen and living room.) The hospital can provide info on all that plus many options for financial aid (I didn't have to pay a dime for treatment, of course I had just finished college and was unemployed.) I'll be up there next week in fact for a restage and check up for tues thru thurs. If you see the fella with the kahki redfish cap...say hi! Good luck and feel free to ask me bout any info or advice ya'll might need. Ill do my best and keep yall in my prayers. FYI...chemo sucks, tell him be tough, he'll make it.

You will be in our prayers. I have three children and I pray every night for good health and am very thankful. We are a very close family so I feel for you. May God give your family the strength to get through this hard time and may your son be in his hands. i do extend my prayers to your son and your family.
hopefully MD Anderson will help him out they are working wonders for one of my grandmothers ofr a nasty kidney cancer..

you also might want to check with CRC cancer research center.. it is here in san antonio.. hopefully one of the facilities has an ongoing research test that addresses his situation.
