Hey guys I have tried my hand at fly fishing a couple of times and really enjoy it so I want to get my own gear. I need some info on what setups would be best for the fishing that I do. I fish all saltwater and fish mainly the surf and sometimes the bay. I am thinking I want to get two diffrent setups...one for surf that can handle trout/reds/jacks/bonito etc...and a second lighter setup up to use for strickly bay for trout and reds. SOOO my main question is what rod wts would be best. I build custom rods so any rod blank names would be helpful. Lastly...what are some good fly reels would hold up to the saltwater? What lines work best?

7 or 8wt for trout and reds. 9 or 10wt for site casting jacks. I have always been partial to Loomis blanks, but Sage, St. Croix, are all fine too.

For saltwater, just make sure the reel has a sealed drag system. I have a Tibor Everglades that works flawlessly. Other high end models I'd consider are Mako and Van Staal. There are less expensive alternatives though that work fine too though.....Okuma Helios, Orvis, etc...Use a floating line in the bays; perhaps a sink tip or sinking line for the surf to get under the wave action.
