I was disapointed on how long of walk it was from the parking lot, but I eventully made my out to the tip in search of Kings and Spanish, but they werent there. Fortunatly there were lots of TARPON! There was a school of about a dozen from 3-5 feet rolling in the channel! Started chunkin everything in the box and about 30 minutes I was hooked up. Unfortunatly it never made the famous jump but on the bright side it ended up being a 24" red with the biggest gut I have seen!

Upon further inspection I found 10 menhaden lodged inside.

Who said reds werent oppertunistic feeders? My lab wasnt too happy that I didnt bring her along.

The reds in La are 2X bigger than the ones in Texas. On my 3rd cast of the trip I caught my first La red I saw the head and immediatly said its oversize. put it on the checkit stick and it was only 25" Shocked The fish we were on had really long tails. On the short end they would be 25-26 and on the long side they would be 27 1/16 or a 1/4. Jason

Nice Catch, fish for supper, bait for next trip! Atleast we know they feed on menhadden. On this topic did anyone ever see that red that was caught near Baffin sometime ago that had the rattlesnake inside its stomach? That would have been neat to see also.

Jason,

Tell Grant that I will be home in about 3 or 4 weeks. We'll get together and do a little fishing.
