| That works very well. but, we use a rock not a golf ball and a comealong not a truck. just hang your deer in a tree or on the rack put the comealong about 8 to 10 feet away and at about an 15 to30 degree angle and get after it. |

I've done the same thing but another way is to skin the inside of the back legs and leave the leg bone above the hock attached to the hide. Lay the carcass out on a gurney and skin the legs and belly down each side as far as you can to the gurney and then tie the legs to a anchor then winch up with a gimbrel thru the hocks pulling the hide off _________________ What's good for me ain't necessarily good for the weak minded.... |

| Yepp, thats a fast way of skinning. I start from the hind qtrs and go towards the head. I just like hanging them from the legs since i cut off the glands on deer and use the same area to cut into a hog to hang. We sometimes use the 4wheeler to take it off which does it in a couple of seconds or the truck. Last time i was timed on cleaning a 45lb hog and had it gutted and skinned in 4 and a half minutes flat. The time started once it was hung. So with that said im pretty fast at cleaning and usually it takes longer to tie up to the animal then the truck rather that just finishing old school. If you have someone helping that would work great. One could do the cuts while someone else ties it up to the truck/4wheeler. I keep my knives Sharp and make as long of cuts possible. The less cuts you make the less hair you will have everywhere. I bought a Shrade skinner with a gut hook a few years back that works awesome. It has the big skinner blade thats kind of curved. Think i only paid 20 for it at academy and imo is by far way better that all gerbers and other knives ive used. One thing i really like also is the handle. Its a rubber handle with groves in it that makes in a non slip handle and doesnt leave you with carpal tunnel after cleaning an animal. Some knives with wood handles and ones that slip alot leave my wrist and hands jacked up ( carpal tunnel) after cleaning a few animals. |

Im not a pro at posting pics but i found it, google Schrade XT3B X-Timer, Fat Boy Skinner, Black Blade w/Guthook, Nylon Sh.
Thats the best skinning/gutting knife ive ever owned, again i have tried LOTS of different knives. I saw a price online for 16.09!!! You cant beat that with a stick! Notice the non slip handle. I cleaned 17 hogs one morning with that bad boy and didnt feel a thing. The minute i use a wood handle or blades that slip my wrist's feel like someone is yanking them off! |

| I've done it, and it works well.... watched another buddy do it one time, not sure if the deer was neck shot or he cut it a little deep......but let me tell ya that when the truck took off and the body was ripped right off leaving the head swingin.....i laughed so hard, watching my buddy's deer being dragged behind the pick up through the pasture......great fun! |

LOL, thats hilarious....That would have been one for the books for sure. Its always an adventure when we go thats for sure! Never any dull moments and never a time we go and not die from laughing so hard. Good times always fishing or hunting! |
