This is what it looked like just after sunrise this morning heading south on PINS.
You can't tell from the picture but the water was chocolate.
This is where we parked for the day around the 20MM. We found lots of mullet in the water but nothing was really chasing them. The castnets also had small crabs, whiting, and a rat red. The entrance board showed the first high tide at 6:30am and the first low at 10:30 from the Saturday info. These pictures were taken around 11:30 and the water had calmed down and was actully clearing a little between the first and second bars.
We only managed one spec and two gafftop. This is the first gafftop I have ever kept. My "Fishing Texas An Angeler's Guide By Russell Tinsley" says "while the body slime makese the fish slippery and hard to clean, the gafftop is good to eat". I shall see.... As a side note the book is available from this website under the "Great Fishing Books'.
These are the fish safely back in Corpus. |

oops! I forgot to put the pic of the fish at home.
I also ran into Kadiyaker on the beach and as luck would have it he said the best fishing was on Thursday. He said the water was dirty all the way down and even Capt Billywas having a hard time finding fish. (please correct me if I got that wrong). I don't know how many times I have heard, "You should have seen the water yesterday!".
Nice to meet you Kadiyaker, drink a beer for me at the Chicken when you get a chance. |

Thanks for report and pics...
Sure looks a lot better than Saturday, when I was there.
I made it about 3 miles past the 4x4 area in my 2WD...Only tried for about a hour though, surf was to rough to surf-fish for me... |
