How much longer do you think it will be before the government steps in and drops the speed limit to 55 again? I bet there already dusting off and making new signs. |

I drive a 2006.5 Jetta TDI (A5) it gets 48.7 mpg. I get around 700 miles between fill ups. I drive for less than $0.09 cents per mile.
The money I save buys gas for friends with 4WD to drive the beach or ride in their boat. |

Dollarwise, I'm guessing that it would take roundabouts half of what I pay on my mortgage payment in gas bills per month to change my family's driving habits. Not necessarily because it won't be affordable (it might not be), but rather because it would be rediculous.
Calculating it out, and given the amount of mileage we drive, it looks like gas will have to hit near $7 to get me to change for sure. However, @ $5 I'll really start looking into other driving alternatives. |

| I have thought about a motorcycle myself and even started looking for one. Then I got on the road here in Corpus and said no way I am driving a bike around here. These people cannot drive! |
