|
|
Everything I have read so far leads me to believe that camping is just about all we are going to be able to do. I was really hoping to fish some as well as camp and hang out with a few friends. Now it looks like we will just go down a bit and camp. I have been down to Surfside when the weed was really bad and wow it smelled horrible. Can I expect the same thing ? I am not sure I can take that. Anyone have any recommendations on how far to go down before finding a good spot to set up camp ?
I/we have been looking forward to this break for some time and I sure do not want to cancel but if the weed is rotting and rank, the water is black, and camping will suck, I will have to do something else. I really do not want to because I need my beach fix….. |

The weed will be gone when someone figures they can make Ethanol from it.
But right now it is real ugly.
Still, camping with friends and family is fun too.
All the best and enjoy nature no matter what it looks like. |

Usually you can do some fishing even with the weed. If you have a 4x4 you can head to Yarborough Pass on the back side. The entrance is right at the 15 mile mark but YOU MUST have 4x4.
As for the rotting smell of the sargassum I can't help with that. _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

If you head South all the way to the Mansfield jetties you might be able to get out of it and fish in the channel and just inside the rocks for trout and reds.
That's were I would go. _________________ I am a pirate 200 years too late. |

I just drove down yesterday to the 45 MM. The farther I went the worse it got. However right off the black top for about 1.5 miles it was the best. It was fishable, but with some work! If a real high tide comes and cleans out the first it would help alot. _________________ "Wishing I was there, Fishing" |
