I fish PINS and the bays around Corpus several times per year, but would like to try the beach on the south side of the mansfield jetties this summer. My questions are whether a person has to drive almost all the way to Brownsville to access it, or is there a cutoff to the beach along the way, (off of hwy 77?). I would really like to try the area, but am just wondering about how much extra time it takes to get there. In addition, does the fishing/beach driving/remoteness compare to PINS?
Thanks for any advice. Jeff |

man, you'd have togo all the way to Port Isabel, cross over to the island, then drive all the back north to the Mansfield jetties. If you like driving go for it. I don't think theres a whole lotta people that make that journey. I could be wrong. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

| Man coming from North of the Valley your going to add another good 2.5hrs just to get to SPI, then double baclk all the way down the beach back to the jetties. You get the Valley crowd out there, just like the corpus gang goes south. |

Thanks IMS, that is what I was wondering, just not sure of the roads, etc down that way. Sure does look pristine and secluded from the north side of the jetties though.
Sorry about the momentary dyslexia on the spelling of island, DOH. |

Take Hwy. 100 off of 77 and it will take you straight into Pt. Isabel. Then go North on the Island past all the hotels and condos and find a beach access. It's pretty nice down there, but I don't think it's worth the drive. You're going to add 2-3 hours to your trip. _________________ Longhorn |

Don't get me wrong , i grew up down there and it is a most beautiful place. If you have never been to the valley or so. padre you should atleast check it out once or twice. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

| I did this last year. If you're going to be in SPI anyway its a great trip. If your going to surf fish PINS is a lot closer and I didn't find it to be any better. |

| Wow, thanks all, I did not realize it was that far. Considering the 2+ hour drive I already have from New Braunfels, that may not be very feasible. Thanks again, Jeff. |
