I hope so too. Here's something someone posted on another board. I'm not sure how much credence it holds.
I just found out the diciding outcome will come from the public fishermen that show up. The Feds will do away with snapper season etc do what they want no matter how many show. TPWD will fight them for all they got to save keep year round, 4 per person, depending on the numbers at the meeting. They need to show that X number of people came to speak and that is why they can not risk the lower number of rec. fishermen and there $$$$$ for the state. The more that show the better we will be.
As far as Blacktips are concerned it's my understanding that the feds are pursuing a "zero" retention. Now I assume, but do not know, that if the state goes along with that it would include Blacktips caught from surf, jetties and piers. Perhaps someone here has more knowledge on that.
Let's go to the meeting! |

TPWD has told me they have to have support to maintain our Red Snapper and Shark limits in State Waters. If we set on our behinds
TPWD will take it away. I have spoken to several members of the TPWD Commission. This is a must series of meetings to attend.
We need everyone there. If you don't like to speak please have someone type a statement for you. Sign in and go to the speakers podium and simply state you have a statement to be entered for the record and I am not for any reductions. Let the next person have the time.
I will try to make the Dickinson,Port Aransas and South Padre meetings
personaly. Oil at a hundred dollars a barrel will make me sell a few more cans for gas. LOL
Please fill the room.
RFA Texas is spearheading the move to remove the Menhaden reduction industry from State Waters. Please remember to support this issue. Menhaden are truly the most important fish in the sea. They filter 4 gallons of water per minute eating stuff like red and brown tide algae. They are also very important to the food chain for all recreational sportfish. We need to let them do their job not be ground up for chicken, pig and cat food.

Well .... according to threads on other boards the first meeting held in Port Arthur last night was not well attended and the attendants were not very vocal.
And to make matters worse CCA went on record as wanting to give in to the feds. What a joke this organization has become since it was formed years ago. They haven't seen a dollar of mine in 5 years and will never see another one. I would like to see a boycott of the S.T.A.R. tourney. When you sign up for S.T.A.R. you give them the authority to speak for you.
Please show up......let's roll. |

I just got off the telephone with Deep Sea Headquarters and Greg and them were not even remotely aware of this proposal and meeting. He promised me he would attend and try to get all the captains and deckhands there as well. I even suggested to Greg that they put an announcement on their marquee ....Anyone attending the meeting will receive a discount on their next state waters trip! He thought that was a neat idea but I can't say that it will happen.
So .... please, if you have contact with anyone in Port A. that might be even slightly affected by this please give them a call to see if they even know about it.
Dolphin Docks, Adventurer, Port A. Outfitters, Fisherman's Wharf, Woody's????
