I know a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work, but how was your Catching in 2007?

Trout-I'd rate it a solid 9. The winter/early spring of 2007 was wonderful for numbers and size. Summertime trout dropped a bit as usual for me, but the fall/early winter time frame was back up to better than normal.

Reds-Solid seven. Perhaps I was trout fishing to much early in the year, but I never really got on 'em in the winter like in most years. Summertime tailing action was normal. Fall brought about some memorable "red letter days".

Flounder- What flounder? I know I don't target the flatties like some folks do but I didn't get any "incidental" catches like usual. Don't know if the flounder stocks are down but if you want to "just keep five", it should be the flatfish.

trout=8

I'm also including sand trout. Trout numbers have been pretty good for 2007. Not too many limits on trout but several good days of 1/2 limits

redfish=7

Plenty of redfish caught this year but the size of the fish wasn't as good as in recent years. Not too many caught over 23" and largest was a little over 34"

flounder=1

Caught 1 keeper this year and that was a few weeks ago. Had a handful or so undersized ones but other then that nada

other= 8

Had fun catching whiting, drum, pomps, sheepies etc... but didn't target them too often but did get some good results when I did catch them

I only made about a dozen trips this year so my catches were minimal. I fished when I could and not always at the best times. High tides and high winds beat me up pretty good. I give trout and reds ,for me, a 2 for the year. I looking to 08 to be alot better.

I'm glad to hear everybody had good redfish fishing. I spent most of my fishing time in 2007 in Port Mansfield. All I heard on every trip was all of this whining about the fresh water, and no reds, and the guides are all starving, and the restaurants are going to close because nobody's coming there. While all that was going on my fishing buddies and I were catching more reds than ever. They were big, strong, thick shouldered fish, and they were everywhere. It seemed to me to be the best fishing year ever, so I didn't understand the complaints. I'm glad to know that what I experienced is what most of you did as well. I guess that means I'm not completely crazy after all. Here's how i rate the year on a 1-10

Reds -- 12+
Trout -- 5 maybe, but I don't care
Flounder -- haven't seen one in years except for the grocery store
Blue Marlin -- 12+ since my wife caught her first
Wahoo -- 8
Aluminum Cans --10 killed my limit many times
Doves -- 150 Going to Argentina helped
Deer -- 5
Hogs -- 10

Thanks for letting me participate in all of your great discussions all year. I have really enjoyed it. Have a happy, safe and prosperous 2008

Trout 7

Reds 10++
Reds were everywhere this year it seemed...bay and surf/jetties. Caught some at the nearshore rigs too.

Drum 8

Snapper 10++
Lots of big snapper this summer, best was about 17lbs, many over 10 and 12+

Kings 6
Slow year for Kings. They never showed up inshore consistently around the ships, and certainly didn't make much of an appearance at the jetties like in 2006.

Ling 10++++
We had the usual Spring and also a seemingly Fall run this year! Consistent action all summer too:) Lots of fish in the Spring...LOTS of fish.

Billfish 1 (1 nice blue)

Wahoo 5

Dolphin 5
