with the upcoming change in weather, where do you usually fish? Is the north jetty any good in december? Or how about bhp or pins?

Can’t help you on jetties or BHP. I have caught red fish in the cold, pounding, dirty surf with cut bait in the dead of winter. They like whiting, shrimp, or skip jack. The best advise I can give you is to sharpen those hooks.

Get you some therma insulated waders and hit the surf. This is the time of year to catch fish in the surf. It really ain't that bad at all. Just don't let the waves get over your waders!

You can get sharks especially Sandbar sharks in the winter. After a good warming spell you can also get small Blacktips. Redfish, Whiting and Drum all the time and when the water is green and calm you can catch Pompano.

Not uncommon in the winter to catch reds, black drum, and sheep head around the rocks.

As previously stated, if water is clear enough, you can also catch a mess of pomps.

Jan and Feb have been some of my best months for HUGE reds and black drum around jetties , the colder the better , the worst days you can think of have been my best days , I use circle hooks and big pieces of cut mullet , nothing fancy , cast it out , let it sit , have a warm beer or six and wait for rod to bend over , have fun ...

What I ,love about surf fishin is ya never know what your gonna catch. I use live finger mullet when I can catch them. Fresh dead shrimp if not, until we catch a whiting, then it's cut bait. Small bait will get you mostly small fish. Big bait set awhile, but, sometimes, alot of times, something big takes it. Throw out and set your pole in a holder and sit back and watch. If your driving down the PINS and see the birds diving into the water, stop, put on those waders, get some mullet and wade out to the first bar. Feeding frencies are awesome.
