It is that time again for scumbags at BHP.
The last two nights people have had items stolen from vehicles. Last night was a busted windshield and tonight was a lot of fishing poles and luggage.
Don't leave stuff in the back of your truck and hide all valuables inside your vehicle. It will not gurantee anti-theft, but the fools are looking for opportunity.
The two thefts happened between 10pm and midnight.
I say catch them and use them for shark bait, but there is a problem, sharks normally do not eat dirt.
Anyone want to setup a sting operation and then go thief fishing? |

| Hey funmeters1 a sting sounds good. They should set up decoy's or biat cars like they do on cops. I think if they did that a few times it might deter the would be thief or thieves. Anyway just sucks that you can't fish in peace without having to worry about someone breaking into your vechile. |

I have given the sting operation alot of thought. A couple things we need to do is coordinate our efforts with the Police. Another, would be to talk to a prosecuter and see if their office would be interested in prosecuting the thiefs. And finally find some volunteers who are ready to put some time in the project and be prepared to go to court. If there is enough interest then we might want to get together and put the project together. I am willing to do some leg work by talking to the Police commander in the Bluff
and the going down to the court house and talking to the prosecuters on what they need to get a conviction. One would hope law enforcement would be in favor of it. Never know when the media is listening. |

Start communicating with the police by all means, but don't blab your and their plans all over this board. Use PMs.
I cringe every time someone posts to describe expensive boats and fishing gear, and even puts in pictures of the beautiful custom stuff they've made themselves. Then they go ahead and tell everyone when and where they'll be. That's the Internet equivalent of leaving your valuables in the back of your car. Think of all the spam and phishing you're getting and you'll realize how many low-lifes may be lurking on this thread right now.
While I think of it, there are several who've stooped to calling me names on another board BECAUSE I'm for law enforcement, so why would I trust them with an inventory of my valuables? _________________ The Trash Heap Has Spoken!

| I’m going to ring in here before IMS and Beach bum and tell you, “your crazy”. They are in a stolen car, they are packing pistols, and they need a fix and they’re not going back to jail. |

I agree, larry. Howie was fantasticly lucky to have survived a potentially very dangerous encounter. I was hoping he'd report not just to this board, but to the cops, so this particular close call might benefit us all.
Some of you may be thinking that when Texas' new "castle doctrine" law goes into effect next month it signals the beginning of hunting season for scum. Don't take the chance the scum are better shots than you are. _________________ The Trash Heap Has Spoken!

Texas used to have laws that called for people to back away from scumbags, even if they threatened to attack you or broke into your home or "castle." This led to the scum filing civil suits against those who tried to defend themselves and their own property. The new law protects the real victims from situations like that, allowing the victims to take an active role in defending themselves, their families, and their property w/o worrying about civil liability when they do that. It goes into effect September 1. _________________ The Trash Heap Has Spoken!

I notified police through detective Ausbury's email.
I tried to contact police department at large through email but their site does not give any email addresses. To be fair, it does not have any email that I could find.
If you have ever tried to discuss such issues with people who answer non-emergency number, you get the impression that you are wasting their time, but thanks anyway, and "we will look into it"(??????).
I have the utmost respect for good and true law enforcement. Those who work hard at upholding the law, not accepting bribes, etc. have to deal with a lot of trash from within and without for very little pay. My hat is off to them and their dedication. |

After having my truck stolen last year. We learned a lot. We now trust the law inforcment a whole lot less than crooks. So calling the cops is not very safe.
Cheers!
