I launched before daylight and headed to my usual fishing area, but a mile from the truck I ran into such low tides that the only channel to my area was no longer a channel and had visible mud all the way across. Kayaks can go shallow, but when the surface is mud I turn around.  I decided to work a new direction to see if any reds were working the shorelines and I found enough good fish to turn my lemon plan into refreshing lemonade. Of six fish I sight casted, three ended up coming to the kayak. I was headed for the truck when the usual Saturday crowd made their way out. The bite was early and short-lived and I was happy to have been there to see it!
