I came across this on a facebook website. Seems that driving on PINS may be banned or require an extra fee according to a proposal.

Here is a link with details and signing of a petition to stop it.

Consider the source.

It's factual in places (this reduction in funding started a while back), and a complete editorial of fake-news in others. Besides, Change.org is merely a place to go to start a petition, and you can write a heart-wrenching story about why you want the sky to be green (please sign my petition at the end......... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes ) and it will make that site.

Closing 60 miles of seashore from vehicles kinda defeats the purpose of having a National Park on the seashore??!?! Who's going to pay to park their car in a parking lot and schlep their gear down the beach? You can do that now, for free!!!! along the seawall.

CS...you are right. I finally managed to find the actual 50 page report. There is only one line in it about driving [that I could find] and that mentioned the possibility about charging an extra beach driving down island fee during turtle nesting season.

"A reasonable approach would be to require a beach vehicle driving permit for the period April 1-July 15, which is the Kemp nesting season" It goes on to say that the extra fee should only be to offset cost of patrol protection of nests...

Not saying it can or will happen at PINS but go read about the poo poo show that happened at Cape Hatteras National Seashore in North Carolina. Environmental terrorist got the beaches closed for years claiming nesting birds were being harmed. It is better now but still annual closures of sections of beach when birds are nesting. Now a permit is also required

Won't happen without a huge fight and the way the National Park was set up in the charter that created it put the flora and fauna ahead of the people so that's a different case. But I will always be vigilant for sure!

Hopefully help for our National Parks and environment is on the way. The wasted funding for the vanity wall can now be re-directed to some worthwhile causes as well as get some of the $$$$ back t the defense department from which is was robbed.
Not much to be alarmed about now that the punks, thugs and woo-woo crowd has been banned from some media sites and shown to be the scum that they are.\
Thank you America.....

Y'all are all missing the point. The reason PINS was created was because in 1967 - while dredging the original Mansfield channel - they dredged right into one of the three Spanish shipwrecks that were carrying 'gold' that were documented in the 1500s. The Texas government acted swiftly to 'protect' the wrecks from anyone pillaging them. The Feds got info on it and made into a National Seashore, where you can't even use a metal detector without federal approval. The nesting grounds of the Kemps Ridley sea turtles just turned out to be in their favor to 'protect' the island.

People were driving the island long before the NS was there. Proof = pictures of cars right next to the Nicaragua when she was 100% beached.

By no means am I against the preservation of the island, but do some reading. 60 miles of seashore says they have 0% chance against Texans wanting to drive the entirety. Yes, you may see a lot of rule enforcement during nesting season, but they will NEVER drop us from driving it. Even if they try, they will feel the wrath of true Texans.

P.S. - Shaver knows all this, and so did her predecessors. Start a petition to petition the petition.

#cancelculture goes much further than we all know.

Looks like your going to have to wear your mask while on the beach now if you are going to PINS. Federal mandate.

My gun says otherwise. They reversed to the rules in 2014 much to their dismay; State rules over Federal. My point stands.

Unless I'm within 6' of a person, they have NOTHING to enforce.

Biden signed a mask mandate, requiring face masks be worn on land controlled by the federal government. NPS is the federal government right ? I don't care own way or the other. If the mask is required I just won't go. But if this is the law then its the law right ? Anybody know anything contrary to this or have any clarificaton ?

Not a Law, merely a Mandate, signed by Executive Order.
And a Mandate, without a penalty for ordinary citizens, is nothing more than a 'Suggestion'.

Which is why I've worn a 'mask' ZERO days of the 251 days into the 14 Day Shut-Down 'to flatten the curve of Covid'!!! [Right Dr. Fauci??]. And nobody at HEB, Wal-Marks, Lowes, or any other stores say a word to me. (Well, save for the crazy Lady at the Phillips Station at Aquarius, but I told her "No, I don't need a mask, so Please and Thank You"). The look on her face was priceless.

Interesting how that quote disappeared. How easy it is to make the Blind believe a LAW is law when it clearly isn't.

He seeks to destroy the truth and is a Terrorist or Sympathizer....He or She...or It...

My point IS and WAS to piss IT off. Judges? The account doesn't exist anymore. Or it shouldn't.

Run for the Hills. You're in trouble. Signed, U.S. Watch your supple bum. When it dies of blood loss.
