We use a standard double-drop leader with 2/0 thin wire circle hooks. As directed on the Fish'n Strip package, thread the hook tip into the strip at the broad end of the "pennant" about 3/8" from that edge, then double the point back through the strip again immediately. The imbedded mesh will hold very securely with even that little of it caught within the wire of the hook. Shove the impaled strip as far as you can up against the eye of the hook to make room for a chunk of peeled shrimp, and you have the perfect pomp attractant.
You can fish without the shrimp to go along with the Fish'n Strips, and in practice, since the shrimp gets nibbled off much more easily than the strip, this is how you'll be fishing a lot of the time. However, this is the combo I always use, and it's the one that produced the state record Irish pompano. _________________ The Trash Heap Has Spoken!
