Just read where a wave washed a family from Lubbock off the end of North packery jetty. 60-year-old man died. What a tragedy

So sad to learn. Some people just don't understand or respect the power of Mother Nature.

Saw that too, terrible tragedy. They are lucky no one else was killed. Was fishing the south jetty last week and guy threw his cast net at some mullet but it got stuck he walked onto the green vegetation and we warned him that a wave was coming but he stayed on the rock and the waves swept him into the water, and wasn't able to get back onto the rocks. Luckily a guy was able to throw him rope and we were able to get him back up. Those barnacles and oysters will really do a number on you too. Can't underestimate mother nature.

Terrible. I was fishing South Pac Saturday afternoon and some guys came down the jetties that bailed from a boat. They were trying to fish the outside of the jetties and said they almost swamped. The "captain" got the boat back in the channel and picked up the occupants in the calm inside the channel. They were lucky no one was hurt.
