What IMS said. Although the video is funny just for pure intertainment value, the subject of "global warming" gives me a pain in the a$$.

There are just as many "experts" who disagree with big Al "chicken little" Gore as those who do, even if the lefties say that "those" experts opinions don't matter. Mixing politics with science makes even less sense than mixing politics with military matters, which has always been and will always be a recipe for disaster! For whatever reason that our winters here in Arkansas have been a little milder for the past few years, I'll take ALL of it that I can get.

Worrying about global warming is like worrying about species going extinct. It is the NATURE of unsuccessful [those who can't adapt to change] species to go extinct, for whatever reason you can dig up. That's why we still have opossums, scorpions and roaches etc. They have made the cut and will continue to. Science says that 99% of the species that have ever existed on the earth have gone extinct and the great % of those happened before human activity EVER came into the picture. It is also the nature of climate to constantly change, and that will continue to happen despite what humans do.

It is a sad state of affairs when those who have been educated in the scientific community allow their political leanings to interfere with their judgement and decision making processes to the point that they are willing to bend or alter their opinions to justify their politics.

Something very strange:
If you try to write the four letters that come before ----roach and rhyme with "smock", it will change to "sheboygan" when you hit preview!

Since this board is about fishing not politics but anytime I go fishing or camping I always "police" the area before I leave. The goal is to leave a place a little better than I found it. I guess the best way to describe it is that is how I want my time on Earth to be. I have a 3 yr old and I want him to love the outdoors and have the opportunity to enjoy it as much as I have.

The converse of what has been stated above is also true; a lot of people have their political opinions and use them to challenge the science. If you use independent news sources, and not just Fox News, CNN and the like, you might find the current findings about global warming to be more concerning. Just check out http://www.sciencenews.org/ and use your own judgment.

For my part, I would rather err on the side of caution. I am not going to start chewing tofu and going to Earth-first sit-ins but I am willing to make reasonable comprises and practice conservation for the greater good. I do think an added benefit to weaning ourselves away oil (an admittedly long view) will have the added benefit of enhancing our national security. Our petro dollars are being used against us.

Have you checked out this chick on The Weather Channel?

http://www.weather.com/aboutus/television/ocms/cullen.html

She is so blatantly in the far left global warming camp that her opinions aren't that anymore, they are just lefty "talking points"! Check out her bio on the link. She hails from Boulder Colorado, home and ground zero for left wing zelots and lunatics like Ward Churchhill. And, check out her "expert" guest list including Al Gore. What a freeking joke. If it wasn't so far removed from an unbiased, scientifically sound case, it might be funny!

Aside from the scientific data; I believe that BigHead syndrone has taken over the world. Pictures from the 60's depicting aliens an such were really a look into the future of man as a result of the aforementioned syndrone.
There are those that have lost touch w/ reality or their scientific training and side w/ politics, money and fame as a way to further their hat size. Which in turn provides some personal protection from the heat by creating a larger amout of shade.

The day that humans run out of oil/carbon based energy, will truely be a sad day. What would life be like right now w/o heating and A/C, I shudder to think how much our lifespans would drop.

I'm not a betting man but I'm pretty sure that from what I have read and seen on the subject, the left wing notion that there is only a decade or two of petroleum reserves is just plain bull hockey, and has been used by them and their treehugger breathrin as a political tool to denegrate others that don't hold those views. Humans have an incredible ability to delude themselves but we also are very persistent and creative creatures when it comes to getting what we want and need to live a better life. There are LOADS of petroleum reserves on this planet but until the easier to obtain stores start to dwindle the oil companies aren't going to take the risk and spend the $$$$$$$$$ that it will take to tap them. We should have been drilling in ANWR 15 years ago and most of the existing refineries shouldn't be lumped toghether in hurricane zones. If so we wouldn't be paying $3.00 a gallon for gas. The notion that it would disrupt the caribou herds is another pinko, tree hugger lie that was proven to be BS by the Alaska Pipeline back in the mid 70's. The caribou are still doing their thing and couldn't care less!

Just in case any of you think that I'm a right winger, your wrong. I'm a right of center independent, with no political bone to pick and no agenda except common sense and pragmatism, something that neither end of the political spectrum has much of.
