Here in South Florida all public access to beaches are closed and patrolled, boat ramps in most counties are closed, fishing piers are closed, state parks are closed and of course bars, eateries(except for take out/delivery) and in the city of Palm Beach as well as Boca Raton there is an order to stay inside with evening curfews. These closures and other orders are either by order of the governor, mayor or county admin and are being enforced with warnings, citations and in extreme cases fines and possible jail time for misdemeanor crimes.
So....sorry but kind of hard to get all weepy over situations posted here and hopefully you will not get hit as hard with this virus as some in Florida have been.
What is especially ironic is that in both states the elected officials dictating these orders are Republicans! I guess we can always blame Obama for these maladies.... |

Yet here in Arkansas our Governor and Game and Fish Commission have declared all state waters open for fishing and have waived the req to have a fishing license to encourage people to get out into the open air. Its all good although you are supposed to practice proper social distancing. I guess Arkansans can be trusted more than people in other states. They have closed many campgrounds because too many people were coming from other states with high Covid 19 levels. _________________ Gary J

The closure is so stupid imo. UV rays kill any virus. The best place to be not to catch the virus would be out in the sunshine catching fish.
Ask the mayor, "who fishes closer than 6' to one another?" |

The daggone tourists can just stay home and keep the Chinese Flu in their own state. THIS IS NOT a time for tourism.. Arkansas has enough to deal with among their own citizens and so far is doing quite well - which is why people are coming here. My county while having a big attraction in the White River trout fishing still has zero infected. _________________ Gary J

Might be a while. The local news reported yesterday that he tested positive for coronavirus. |

Likely a moot point. The original Order was set to expire on Apr 2nd, 'unless extended'.
I volunteer to ride out to Port A with a can of spray paint and cover the NO FISHING parts of the boards that went up! |

There are idiots everywhere. We'll deal with ours and the others can stay home and let their state deal with theirs. This church thing is not unique to Arkansas either. There are plenty of idiots who run churches that think they have an inside track to God. "Stupid is as Stupid does." and "you can't fix stupid" (but the virus can!!
Read about the 1918/1919 pandemic flu. Regardless of any government officials pontifications - this could very likely be worse - why you ask?? Because in 1918 the population was about the same as present day New York, except people were much more spread out - instant social distancing. This virus has already split in types 1a and 1b and type 2 and people on the coasts all live on top of each other. This virus has shown to be able to mutate faster than we can make about 3-4 BILLION doses of vaccine. Whomever comes up with a vaccine won't be allowed to only make it for their countries population. Wars start for less.

I think the 1918/1919 flu spread by railroads. That was a heyday of railroads, and they went places where there were no roads.
I found an article that interviewed a 69 year old pulmonologist (lung doctor) that contracted Cocid-19. He knew what was happening in his body, but even he was surprised by the way it made him feel. If you are not scared, well, never mind. Here it is:

| Interesting article Rxfire. I noticed there are 10 Covid19 cases in Flour Bluff or 78418 zip code, as of today, and a total of 69 in Nueces County. Everyone needs to stay home and covered when you are out. |
