Hit south of Bob Hall at lunch today, and was greeted with the very distinct smell and sight of waves of 'brown floating plant material' washing ashore!!! It didn't go too far south of the Access Rd., but it was pretty thick, and reminded me of Spring Breaks of years past, so maybe,...... just maybe, we are turning the corner and returning to normal life here on this side of the Gulf.
Plus, the blue buttons and by-the-wind sailors were washing ashore in the [insert very large number here] !!!

My son and his family are in from Phoenix and we went out to do a little fishing. Couldn't keep our lines out for more than 4-5 minutes before it's back up on shore with thick weeds. And yes saw bunches of those by the wind sailors lining the beach. Did get an 18 inch red.
BTW, coming back over the bridge and the water by the icw wasn't too bad a color but by time we got to the bluff shoreline it was brown brown brown |

Weed wasn't a problem at all today at the state park, although there was some washing in along with some pieces of wood and the by-the-wing-sailors. Had lines out four around 4 hours but only managed to get whiting. Hopefully the weed doesn't get too bad,, its been nice not having to deal with it these past few years |

Don't cancel just yet. The area of heavy infestation was pretty small, and heading south it got less and less. PLUS, apparently the National Parks are waiving entry fees to help with 'social distancing'. If you already have your pass, it's a wash, but if not, It's Free!!!

Best place to social distance is PINS! When you have 60 miles of shoreline do disperse people upon, you stay open!
That being said, I heard all state parks are gonna close if they haven't yet. Including MISP. Just FYI.
Wanna hear my story? I was sent to Tulsa for our required annual training two Mondays ago, just when Corona was becoming 'a thing' here. Travel was still fine. Full planes, a few mask wearers, but nothing else. Through-ought class (in the airport in Tulsa mind you), we kept getting info of how worse it was getting by the day. I still didn't see it seriously until Friday, when I came home.
The Tulsa airport had 8+ flight cancellations from being unable to fill them. Not regional jets, but 737s and A319s. Then I got to Houston-Hobby, and it looked deserted. It looked like the Corpus airport on a regular day. That's when I started getting worried.
But then, Saturday night, I woke uap with a fever of 102 and dry cough at 3am, and it helped to take Tylenol but didn't break. I called my doctor's on-call nurse with no answer at first; finally getting an answer upon my second call at 5pm. She recorded the temperatures I recorded and other symptoms, and told m the doctor would let me know if they wanted me to be screened in the morning.
They called me Monday morning (the day I was supposed to return to work) and said come in for testing. The doc thought I just had the Flu but made me wear a mask as well as himself. They took a nose swab and tested it; promised results within hours.
Sure enough, doc was right - positive for Flu, negative for Corona. He said wear your mask and stay home as much as possible. I told my employer, and they were like okay but we need a doctor's note. So I had to call them back to mail me one to give them upon my return.
So today I returned feeling just fine, totally rid of the Flu, and even wearing the mask just to make others feel better. They told me not long after 8am, they released a travel restriction for anyone that has traveled anywhere in the last X days, must 14 day quarantine at home under paid admin leave. So they sent me home for a free paid week and a day! LOL. Time to go fishin' and do so much other stuff. _________________ All things will pass. Have a Blessed day. |

That would be news to me, but anything can happen and it changes seemingly by the hour.
Glad you made it thru the scare in 1 piece. I was supposed to be in Charleston, SC all last week, and they cancelled it the Sunday before we were to leave! Dodge that bullet. |

| I heard all state parks in New Mexico or close but didn't hear about Texas. That doesn't make much sense to me. What a bitter place to practice social distancing and still get exercise etc |

I hear ya. Flights are being axed right now anyway. The airlines are hurting. Not long until they start furloughs or lay-offs. I've heard airports that have private parking lots are laying people off as well as vendor employees in the airport. AAAE has asked for $10B of emergency funds to be set aside for airports just to continue their current construction and pay bills. Aviation has been hard hit by this, as has all travel.
Honestly still waiting on a full air travel shutdown, still think it may come to that in a week or two. Just to stop the 'rebels' with the disease from travelling and allow us to sanitize airports and airplanes. _________________ All things will pass. Have a Blessed day. |
