I read the OP, didn't read most of the pages, but can tell you there was a big window for more than a few years when Academy quit carrying Falcon rods over their warranty support (or lack).
It disappointed me at the time, though bought one good TTF rod during the Academy Falcon dearth (recently gave that rod to my dad).
That said, I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Falcon rod if it was the one I wanted, and a very good friend recently bought one at my recommendation and loves it.
I'll put in a plug for 13Fishing, and my recent very good experience with their rod warranty.
As far as Roy's, always great service at this end, but can understand someone having a bad incident anywhere.
I wouldn't expect any retailer to take back one brand and turn that into store credit on another - they're stuck inside the same warranty process that we are. |

Sometimes it's best if you just fire the customer. |

Yeah - nice quote. BUT, the customer just goes to Amazon to buy the same thing, Jeff Bezos makes another billion and spends it on liberal causes and the New York Times, AND, the local retailer goes out of business.
Unfortunately a lot of local retailers are cutting their own throats with their service attitudes. _________________ Now that food has replaced my sex life I can't even get into my own pants!!!!!!!!

Not sure why the OP hasn't gone back to have conversation with the manger. I know if my wife and son told me they were treated poorly I would have been out the door and in front of the manager ASAP.
Guess it is just easier to cry over a keyboard. |

| Have not been back because where we live now it takes an hour and fifteen minutes to get there and I have a job where I work 70 to 80 hours a week. That made the experience all the more frustrating for us the fact that they drove all the way there because it was his favorite store and it ended the way it did. Remember the name of this thread. |

| So what happened? Did you send it back to Falcon and get an new rod or glue the piece of rubber back on yourself? There is no damage to the rod just cause the rubber end came off. |

I know this is an old post but it is a good example of how we react to different situations. Here is a small business that overall does a good job but in this case the customer was not happy so he wanted to share his experience with others so he post it. I a making no judgement on his decision to post.
There are a host of others with their input on what this young gentleman should do to resolve this situation. Some are very sound recommendations.
The second part of this was a fisherman posted a positive post on Breakaway. Interestingly not one additional post was shared. Both are businesses that need our business, specially in the winter, so sometimes do we have to post that negative situation? Does it make us feel good to get some steam off our chest? Just find this to be a common behavior and don |
