Was fishing the north PA jetty today and watching this group of 5, took them almost 30 min. to set anchor, they fished awhile and last I saw they were moving to pull anchor, I turned to cut bait and heard someone yelling "is everyone out" , turned around and saw all 5 climbing up on the rocks plus the dog, and their boat was capsized. Offered them a ride, but told them they would have to swim to me as I was not going to get up near the rocks, they stated they were going to wait on USCG. Boat stayed anchored for a bit (albeit upside down), last I saw she was headed out to the gulf to Davy Jone's locker. Feel so bad for those folks. I don't know what happened it wasn't all that rough and they weren't close to the rocks.[/url][/i]

Current was probably not in their favor. _________________ "If we don't leave any, there won't be any."

This is still bugging me, I know things happen fast out there, but the time it takes to dig out a menhaden and cut it into 4 pieces and a boat is upside down is sobering, hope those folks made it home ok.

Probably tied an anchor off the side of the boat. That will very quickly get you in trouble in any sort of current.

Did they possibly try to use the motor to retrieve a stuck anchor?

Probably so, halffast, last time I looked they were motoring forward to pull anchor, then I turned around and it was all over in a minute or so.
