What artificial lure do you use to target big trout? I like to use topwaters and I was wondering what other people use.

Suspending twitch bait...Corky or Mirrolure. Of course, I have probably caught more 24 inch plus fish on the old Codell Broken Backs.

TSL grasswalker is a great lure, and fun to fish.

I throw one knockers a lot. They usually bring the most quality fish to the boat. That being said I dont have any true monster trout under my belt so take that for what its worth...

Yo-zuri pencil lure is another good surface dog-walker.
but again, what I like about TSL grasswalker is they're neutral density and dog walk in the zone with just about any retrieve

My same experience, and a fun lure to fish. It's almost a lazy man's lure, because of the way it works, but it's a heart stopper when a big trout decides it dinner time!

Donnie, I haven't found one that didn't work, but picking colors to match the water and sun works best on selective fish.
Clear water, high sun and grass, best luck with blend colors, either chicken-on-a-chain

or birthday suit, which is the most mullet-looking and acting lure ever

Add cloud cover, and Golden Roach is great in clear water.

Turbid water, need more visible colors - bone diamond in sun (Tobin probably sells more of this than any other color, and they also glow in the dark), Plum in cloud cover and turbid water with great reports from Baffin

Low-angle sun, early morning and late afternoon, pink

or red

after all that, my buddy Steve fishes pink all the time and catches fish, and my dad catches fish in clear water and sun all the time on red and white.

btw, I've also never fished a lure that takes more fish on the splash - they enter the water acting like a mullet.
Fish will chase to hit a 2nd and 3rd time if you pull it from their mouth on the hook set.
I've also landed trout that weren't hooked, but squeezing the lure tight in their gullet.

I have all those colors except the pink one, and I need to work those more. The surf is my place and i will be back out there soon.

Still using Mirrolures, Been stuck in a rut since 1974. Wink

Green and gold or pink and silver mostly. I cut the lead hook off the front treble, reduces fouling.

Johnson sprites - since 1966. Though I do own some mirrolures - they were my dad's go to lures.
