the news still hasn't sunk in yet....I just can't believe it...

life is short folks, we never have enough time...don't wait until the "next time you run into someone" to visit....reach out to folks NOW before it's too late...because you just never know...

I think that it's a fitting tribute to Stan that the traffic on the forum has pretty much ground to a halt, as we all try and process this really shocking news.

Been a particularly tough year, losing all sorts of legends.

I think some retired fisherman should take up IMS's 5am Laguna Shores Coffee Report. It was so nice to get a vibe on what conditions were like early in the backyard.

Even though im a couple hundred miles away i always looked forward to those early morning reports! Im going to miss that and all the reports from when he took folks fishing. I recently retired and was hoping to set up a trip with him once he got fishing again. Would have been a great time and good learning experience im sure.

Going to be hard shoes to fill but like Tyler i would sure like someone to try to continue his coffee reports!

While I am fairly new to this forum and from Oklahoma, I have learned a lot for Stan. I use several of his ideas while down in Corpus and have had success. I will miss the coffee reports and his wisdom. Condolences from Oklahoma to his family and friends.

Another "fisherman" in Heaven. Stan was one of those rare individuals who was just a "good guy" to everyone.

I met a guy here in Seattle just last week, cashier at a grocery store, young man about 25-30 years old. He saw my TX driver's license and said, "Corpus Christi?! Get out! I'm a bluff rat!"

After a few minutes of chatting about fishing and Corpus, asked him if he knew the exhaulted ruler of Flour Bluff. He said "ironmanstan?!" Such a small world.

Later my confused and shocked girlfriend asked me "What is Flour Bluff? And who is ironmanstan?"

I explained that he was the guy that would give you some of the best fishing advice, then invite strangers from the internet into his garage, give them a beer and plate of fried fish, and welcome you to the neighborhood. Even if you were a yankee from New York. She paused, nodded, and said "Sounds like a great guy". This was literally 3 days ago.

RIP Stan.

If I knew he was nice to New Yorkers......
Sad to see people go who are obviously very good and kind hearted people.
