Hi everyone, I know this is a fishing forum, but I am planning my yearly PINS camping trip, and was wondering if anyone could give me any tips on predicting water clarity?

I have been coming to PINS since I was 8, now 33, and found we never spent enough time (all day) at the beach, so I have been coming down the past 4 years to beach camp. One year I'll take up fishing. Part of me says this year, I have never salt water fished, so I would have a bit of learning to do.

Too early to predict the water conditions from August 16 to the 20th? I was down on PINS about 6 years ago and the water was spectacular, little waves, and very clear/blue.

Tidal coefficient looks to be low, so I should be fine in terms of getting my campsite washes away (I think hah). If anyone has any tips, it would be greatly appreciated.

We are truly blessed with PINS, absolutely my favorite place on Earth.

Can't really tell what the weather will be like. Tropics can throw something in there even in the eastern Gulf and send water to the dunes. Start slowly with some pvc rod holders maybe and fish shrimp and fishbite combos in the wade and first gut for whiting, reds black drum and pompano or use inshore gear and toss gold and silver spoons or soft plastics for a shot at trout and reds.

If you want to ensure you won't be able to make the trip just book a PINS guided trip. Twice with Capt Billy and once with Jeff I have been "tropical weathered out".

Thanks fellas! It's looking like next Thursday-Monday is shaping up to be pretty nice weather. Will be making an 8 hour drive from North Texas.
