So we have been fishing down in the Port and North Padre area for about 35 years now, we always went offshore with the party boats. Well this year me and my dad just bought a boat to go offshore with. Its 35 foot 95 Welcraft Scarab center console with triple 225's.
The only issue we have is, where the hell do we go and what do we use for terminal tackle lol.
Anyone want to help a guy out lol!

I ditto the Youtube, and you've come to the right place for experts. Also, if I were you, I'd just recall all my party boat trips and mock what they used to an extent. They have all that stuff at places like Roy's.
As far as places to go, invest in some charts and talk to some people, maybe figure out a few nice spots. Reefs and oil rigs are obvious places, but they will tend to crowd if there's any bite. But good to start with at least until you figure out all your own secret places.

The gear is easy. Just go to Roy's with a credit card.
As for locations, get one of the many fishing maps and circle your boats expected range on it.(Allow a good safety margin) Then you can start plotting out structures you might want to visit. Your boat might have enough legs to reach the floating rigs WAAAY out there.  |

Its got about a 300 mile range and top speed with about half a tank of fuel was 60. Don't really expect to be able to go that fast in the gulf sea's though lol. |

Last time we were down there, earlier this year, we went to roys and I left not a very happy customer.
The sales staff was all very douchie. The guy that helped me was very condescending and just made me feel like my questions were stupid and we were wasting his time and he had better things to be doing. I know there are kind of the go to spot, but i was just very disappointed in the customer service I received. |

That's odd. I'm sure if Rocky and them still read the board it will be addressed. Hope you have better luck next time.
