I want to respool several of my reels by taking the line off. And putting it on opposite to what it was.
I have no intention of trying to wind 200-300 yards off on an old spool by hand. Any ideas.
I thought maybe taking an old spool and setting it up with a drill maybe.

I've got a big spool on a 1/4 inch all thread that chucks up in a drill nicely. Sure beats unwinding a real by hand. Especially the 300 yard plus spools of line. When it's full of old line I just chunk it and get another empty spool and start over

using a single old spool in a drill won't reverse the line it would just be reeled off and right back on same way.

Don't we all have old reels we don't use anymore. Great!

Reel from 1 onto 2.
Reel from 2 onto 3.
Reel from 3 onto 1.

Line is reversed!

I was just ready to reply the same thing ST1300. I don't use three spools I just used two. Take the old spool off put it inside a box so it doesn't go flying all around the yard and tie your line onto the new spool and reel. Saves one extra step.

By the way I've played many a softball tournament in Clovis.

I should have specified they are spinning reels.
But I get why 3 times, to get the bottom on the top.

I just do it to get the old line off large reels before responding with new line. Like 4/0 and larger.
