|
|
I know this is a smart group of people soooooo
Since we cant legally use bait cannons for long distance casting on PINS what about spring powered alternatives.
Any ideas.
I have been looking at water balloon sling shots and catapults but nothing with the claimed 300 yard range of the cannon.
Wife thought of a bow which I cant think of a way to make that work, arrows not bio degradable and expensive. Toyed with the idea of a cross bow but that would probably be considered a weapon too, plus they are expensive.

| Maybe a giant trebuchet mounted on a trailer would work too? |

All I can picture is the lady on YouTube trying to launch a watermelon in one of those giant sling shots, the melon doesn't come out and it backfires right into her face...
Probably would be less fun with surf weights and giant hooks
If you haven't seen the video before...

Go see Nick at Break A Way. He will teach you how to launch a bait!!! and get you some awesome gear.
You can put a snorkel and mask on when the surf is clear then swim the first and second gut. You will soon figure out where the bait is, it's a dessert past the 3rd. Unless you see obvious signs offshore the first two guts are the grocery for store most of the year.
When I am in a boat i cast right up against the shore and when I am on the shore i cast as far as I can out ?????? I am to old to change my ways.

| Back your truck/car up to the surf, jack it up, stuff the bait in the tail pipe along with a potato, if need be, start the engine, and wait............ |

| What I'm wondering is why would you even think of wanting something like that. Except for sharks, everything else that you might want to catch from the surf you can catch by casting from knee to waist deep water. |

I have been doing the knee to waist deep plus a little depending on tide. Just wanted to try my hand a little further out into the unknown. Sharks would be nice reasonable size not like the giant 14 footer they just caught. Anything else out there bigger than just the average would be good once in a while. _________________ Whatever your hands find to do, do it with all your might. (Fishing is one of those things ) |

I did consider that but 2 things.
They are also illegal on PINS and the cost for one that can carry heavy bait and lead is ridiculously expensive. $300 plus it seems for one that can deal with wind water and weight. _________________ Whatever your hands find to do, do it with all your might. (Fishing is one of those things ) |

They are expensive but they work great. Ive never seen a waterproof one for $300 that will take a big bait. What kind is that? Mine is called a splash drone fisherman, and will take a 1.5 lb bait plis an 8 oz weight. Was about 1500$ if I recall, but its awesome. If I didnt have a spinal fusion on 2 levels I would get a kayak though. |

My wife loves to surf fish but trying to convince her to get in a kayak and drop baits would probably be a youtube worthy video. |
