|
Romann and I headed out yesterday after work.......crossing the flats, I began seeing small schools of reds....after the third one, I couldn't help myself and nixed plans to go north to stop for a "few minutes" and see how it went.......about romanns 5th cast, he sticks a decent 27" red
we both see several reds with that one as it comes to the boat and into the net.......meawhile, I'm experiencing technical difficulties, and have to put more line on my reels......looks like I didn't come to fish today.......
I finally get it together, and as I'm casting, two redfish swim up to the boat, I see two more off to the left and one off to the right......romann was the quicker trigger and sticks another red, scattering the school before I could get on one.....
We hit the drop off and go around for another drift down it.....romann sticks another keeper red for his three fish, but quickly released it, so no photo.......we are attacked by a swarm of lagunatics, with two boats buzzing circles around us in the middle of the flats.....geez people, there's plenty of room, just cause there's a bent rod doesn't mean you have to sit on top of someone......
we decide to go give the newly mounted trolling motor field test #2, and run a little ways up to the edge of a channel.......I see some action and sightcast this 27" trout that couldn't have weighed more than 4-5 pounds.....skinny, skinny fish......
The trolling motor works like a champ, and gets us on a few dinks and decent sized trout (again, no pics).......we give up the channel, and drift off as the sun is setting across the flats again.......I start to have blow ups, and miss two fish because I was TOO STUPID to set the hook when I watched them pull my topwater under.......geez, just wasn't my day, but finally this red hits my lure and thankfully sticks himself.....
Overall a decent day, if I would have converted, I would have picked up my limit of reds too.....good to finally get on some decent topwater action again, although the grass is still super thick and tries ones patience.......
ya'll get out there and get on 'em!!! |

| Good job Jay! Sorry to hear about the idiots. "Stupid is as stupid does" That seems to be happening alot lately. We plan on hitting the flats ourselves tomorrow and hope to post a good report. Happy Trails, D. |

Good time indeed. I tried to hand feed that poor trout to fatten him up a little. _________________ Don't let them take the Flour out of the Bluff! |

Nice Catch, looks like the bite is slowly starting to turn back on. That trout looks like snake, skinny as hell. Cant wait till Aug. to come down and get my yak salty, and hopefully place in the tourney I am fishing in.
