Mary and I planned on going up into Southern Colorado today and then on the way back fish the Rio De Los Pinos in Northern New Mexico. When I woke up to this Sunrise I knew it was going to be an awesome day.
Got over to the Los Pinos River and it was frozen. Coming back we investigated an area that was the old Chile line railroad. Found a bunch of old train parts and railroad spikes. Pretty cool. Further back toward Taos we went over to the Taos plateau and on the west rim was able to look down into the Rio Grande.
From up on top I was able to see structure, rocks, Ledges, so that when I got down below I knew some new areas to fish
The observations from above paid off. I was bringing my lure past the Rock ledge and I started bringing in real fast to make a next cast when I saw a tail of a fish following it. Made another cast and was able to bring in this nice solid 18 inch Brown
