My brother and I fished from the causeway to Bird Island the last two days with good results. We limited out yesterday morning fishing for trout under popping cork with Vudu shrimp. We probably caught 10 dinks to every keeper and we caught 15 keepers yesterday. Fishing was good today as well. We caught 8 keepers today with 2 of them over 20". I caught my personal best trout today a little after noon. It was 29" and weighed 8 pounds. I wish I could post a picture but can't get photo bucket to work. If anyone knows another service that is easier to use, let me know and I'll add the picture later. Fishing has been outstanding, so get out there and catch some. _________________ Longhorn |

| Good job Longhorn on the fish. As far as Photobucket and other places, I've been having problems as well. I know how frustrated you must be. |

| The trout are out for sure, but where are the reds and black drum? It's like the trout beat them to the hook every time! |

|
|
Went just north of bird island basin today just after the rain... King ranch shoreline.
Water was crystal clear near the shoreline and less clear in the center of the Lugna.
Trout seemed to be in the less clear water out in the center of the hole.
Tons of 14" dinks.
I learn something new about boating just about every trip.
Today battery went almost dead ... would not start motor.
Could not find a boater with jumper cables.
$500 later for a jump start from Sea Tow headed for marker 37.
Battery wend completely dead so motor died again.
Got a tow from another boat (thank you) to Bluff Landing.
Did you know a boat motor will not run with a completely dead battery?
I do now!
Bought new battery and ran boat to Marker 37 ... loaded boat and headed home.
Last month the battery would not charge so I bought a new one ... hooked it up backwards and blew a few fuses.
Replaced all blown fuses (except one ... hard to see it was blown) and ran boat for about 4 trips on a battery that was not getting any charge.
No way of knowing that except about two trips ago the GPS unit started shutting off when I started the motor ... never did that before.
Once back at home I checked and found that motor was not charging battery. Found the blown fuse in the charging circuit and replaced it.
Added a voltmeter to the panel to keep an eye on battery condition.
It is amazing how long a battery can power a boat motor, live well, bilge pump, power tilt, and GPS unit on a single charge. _________________ Willee 361-563-1303 |

No engine will run with a dead/almost dead battery unless said engine utilizes a generator. Alternators and other such charging devices don't do what generators do.
My first car was a 1966 VW bus...... a true POS if ever there was one! One thing that I DID like; it had a generator, even if the electrical system was only a measly 6 volts. A guy slid into me one night on black ice. Hit me hard enough in the transom to shear off a battery post. Having had too much to drink...... I wanted to get out of dodge ASAP!!!! I asked the other driver to hold the sheared post/cable onto the battery so that I could start the engine. He told me that I was wasting my time, that the engine would die as soon as he removed the busted terminal/cable.
You should have seen the look on his face when it DIDN'T die!!!
Never have figured out why the engine died when he hit me......... _________________ Dave

Fishingpictures.com and PhotoBucket are not user friendly in my view.
I switched over to TinyPics and there is a video tutorial on CF under the Classified section. Much easier. _________________ To have a right to do a thing is not at all the same as to be right in doing it. - G.K. Chesterton |
