Going to be at Sandpiper this weekend thru Wednesday and would love to bring some fillets home. Going w the family...3 little ones so have to be night fishing with a few early morning surf sessions with artificials.
Bringing sabikis and a cast net to catch pinfish, mullet, shrimp whatever. I have been going down there for 30 years but never had much time to get to know the piers that well. Have fished Marker 37 catching only small specks/sand trout. Red Dot was better to me but still not great. Don't have a drop net but still like to fish the two surf piers. Just looking for some trout/reds/flounder.
So where should I go? Haven't tried Oso or Conn Brown Harbor...are they worth it? Where should I concentrate? Thanks for any tips!! |

The surf can be great right in front of the Sandpiper. Also try that gas line structure out in front of the Mayan Princess or hit the fish pass jetties. My other choices would be to try Packery Channel though on the weekends it's a zoo. _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

| I will definitely hit the surf in the mornings if the grass isn't too bad. Probably throw spooks, spoons, gulps and see what happens. I have been to the FP Jetties before and couldn't figure them out. I suck at surf fishing but am determined to figure it out! Should I fish Caldwell or Red Dot at night? Will probably wait on the pier until Sunday and Monday nights so it's less crowded. |

| The more current and flow you can find for the piers at night the better fish it might bring. Surface water temp is getting up there and that drives the larger fish down. Some good ones in the ICW right now if you can hit a pier that is close to it or on it. that would be my input. Piers where there is no flow or depth will get a lot of small ones.. still fun for the kiddos but is what it is. |

What TroutSupport said. I took his advice when I was down there a couple weeks ago and did very well just fishing the deep side of the drop off on the ICW just north of Pure Oil Channel. _________________ Jerry
