This year so far has been an interesting one to say the least. The sargassum seaweed has comeback and we have been plagued with mediocre water quality at best. Nonetheless, we have been coming through even during the toughest of conditions. I have two different sets of clients (families) in which I had register for the Texas Shark Rodeo in advance before their charters. Out of one of the groups, two of the kids had two of the largest bull sharks of the tournament at the time. With the other group, one kid just caught the leading bonnethead shark for the tournament which is in the process of being uploaded.

When I haven't been busting butt on charters, Alexis and I have been out slamming solid sharks for ourselves - we even had two trips in a row that combined for 9 sharks over 7 foot. Pretty damn good. A few weeks ago I did an out-of-park trip volunteering with the Texas State Aquarium collecting live shark specimens for their new exhibit which just now opened... pretty cool. Things are heating up and will be going bonkers as soon as we get the good water quality to transition. Trips are fun for everyone from the most serious of anglers to families with young eager kids with the thirst for adventure!

Remember, for charter info and if you want the best in Padre Surf Fishing, contact either myself at Ocean Epics for shark and big game, or Jeff Wolda at Padre Island ADVENTURES for trout, red, and jack action on light tackle! Have a fantastic summer and enjoy just some of the photos from the past month or two!
