Hey y'all!

Now that hunting season is over and done with, and the rifles have been cleaned, oiled and stored for the summer, it's finally time for me to get out and get some salt in the lungs. I know this time of year you can usually count on some goats off the rocks and piers, but before i gear up for my first trip out of the season, I'd like to to get some intel from my friends here on the forum.

Im not looking to get anyone here to give up a HH, just whether if the sheepshead are still working the structure. I usually hit the jetties with some live shrimp when im on the hunt, FWIW. Is this still a good plan, or should i start targeting specks off the surf? Also, hows the water clarity on the beach right now?

Any info helps, thanks!

I fished N Port A Jetty this Friday and saw plenty SH being caught, close to the rocks on dead shrimp. I ended up with one 22" red and one 18" flounder in the box. Caught a couple small reds and had a couple nice ones get off. bite completely turned off by 10am. Saturday in the boat trout were sporadic around Allyns Byte and reefs along Lydia Anne. Ended up with 7 keeper trout between 3 people fishing Saturday. Was surprised that there was hardly anyone out on the water.

Thanks for the feedback Brent. Sounds like you did pretty well braving the spring break crowds. I, on the other hand, am waiting till next weekend to let those crazy kids clear out so i can soak some lines.

Speaking of, did anybody see this video filmed off of the PA beach this past week?

Makes me glad i kept my old arse at home and enjoyed my whiskey in peace.

I saw some sheepies getting caught off the packery jetties last week on shrimp, and also heard of some trout and flounder getting caught there

You know the spring break crowds weren't bad on port a. I was really surprised. About the only time was at 6pm when drinking laws kicked in and people started pouring out towards Corpus. Mostly families in port a, and I've seen worse during the summer.
