Model to go from:
Blue Wave 2200 STL
200 Suzuki

Would like to see what you guys have to say about the general items. Jack plate manufacturer and size? Power pole/blade manufacturer. Other small items that you keep on your boats to make life easier. What battery brands have you had the best luck with? Trolling motor brand and model suggestions. I am only getting to do this once for the first time. I want to make the best decisions I can given the deepest pool of experience that I can pull from. Hoping that I have a move down that way soon but it is still undetermined. Good luck I have were still only 3.5 hours away.

I know I never posted my live well cooler pics. To be honest I have not logged in at the house in a long time and my work computer is a little restrictive about sharing sites. I promise I will its on my mind at least 4 times a month.

Let me know your thoughts and histories of do's and dont's. Promise I will post pics as soon as I can get on the computer at the house. 3 kids keep me pretty busy. Thanks TC

Well, you picked a great motor. I have around 1000 hrs on my Zuk.

Keep it simple... Unfortunately almost all the batteries are made by just a couple of manufacturers. I'm currently running an Interstate and a Sears and they both seem to be doing the job. I think it might be more important to get a Battery Minder... it de scales the sulfur ions from the lead plates on your batteries when you have deep discharges... they're fairly inexpensive I got mine a Northern tool. I got 3 years out of my last batteries. For $60 it seems to extend the battery life about a year.

If you are going with a pin type anchor just remember to not park the boat backwards in heavy chop and then go off wading. Probably won't have any issues with the BlueWave, but I know several friends that had lower profile boats and they had to bail the boat off the bottom when they got back. If it's choppy and the wind is increasing where there is chop building like on a deeper wade.. use the anchor. The pin type anchors are great in other areas or on protected shorelines. I'd probably go with the powerpole. As for anchors, I really like my aluminum Fortress ... and put some stainless steel chain on the front of it.

Hopefully others will chime in, keep everything as simple as you can.

I agree on the batteries I have used them all care and maintenance on all your accessories is key. Currently I have a Bobs Jack plate as long as you get a good one. Everyone knows you get what you pay for. I like Battery Tender products. I also carry a charge up 450 amp battery jumper all the time its part of my gear. I keep it in a zip up cooler bag so it stays dry.

TS- I have always heard this. It would make perfect sense to to run a minder/tender on them.

Pin/blade would just be certain situation and not others as you had mentioned. I have around 150 hours (which is not much from what I see you guys doing in your free time LOL) on boats down that way inside the bay complex. There are some issue with them especially if you have tanker sunami's on the prowl LOL. They are great when you do not want the anchor sound on the deck on in the water. As long as your on board general use is at will from my experience. However, a great anchor on a strong tide is hard to beat. Both can be used for great boat positioning to a casting point. I guess that's why I feel the need to both.

IMS: I have seen the Bobs for years. Now that I am looking I have seen Atlas and another I can not remember the name of. Probably won't be going with that one LMAO.

The emergency jumper is a fine idea. Will add that is.

Do either one of you like the Sea Deck products? Thought this would be nice on the bow platform area. Just a little more comfort for my little ones. I could care less. I have a feeling it will be a pain in the supple bum to clean. Tis what you get is what you paid for. Will definitely have a nice helm pad made. Have had a major back surgery. A little help is what I am after while under way.

My anchor is a 12# Sea Claw (http://www.reelcharterfishing.com/anchor.htm), and I use an original 6' Power Pole, and my trolling motor is a Motor Guide. The Sea Claw allows you to go without the chain, especially in our shallow bays, but I've not used it in water deeper than 10', so I don't know what ones experience would be there. It can be rigged for used in rocks, as well. The short Power Pole has only reached it's limitation once, so my desires for a longer PP have never been answered. Very Happy I will probably stay with the Motor Guide, since I'm a Lowrance user and MG now has their own system which coordinates with the GPS. My jack plate is Bob's and it's been flawless.
My B-I-W has the 24' hull like yours, with the 250 engine/Atlas setup for several years now, and has had few problems. He fishes the Galveston Bay/ Louisiana area where the depths are similar to greater than what we have in CC area.
On thehulltruth.com you will find many more critical comments about the various products we typically use on our rigs.
Good luck on your choices.

BAy FLy: That's a great looking anchor. I bet that thing will dig. Have a hard time thinking that I hay not get my 200.00 anchor back if it get hung to deep to free dive and retrieve though.

That's good news on the Bobs. I was leaning this way prior to my initial post.

MG was also the general choice as well. Since you tapped on this GPS/finder. Do you, or anyone else have any suggestions for this. Since I am not down there frequently. This acts as a honey hole reminder and nav guide for my brain. I also will not be the dumb supple bum stuck on an old platform pipe on a foggy morning.

The hull truth has been restricted from my in house servers. Will have to check this out at the Casa

The anchor can be rigged where it is retrievable if stuck in rocks, etc. Also, my like anchor is over 15 years old, so I did not pay $200.00! However, it remains like new. On the TM/finder/GPS system, I've not purchased the new MG TM, so I don't know how it works and holds up. However, it's expensive! That being said I would love to be able to stay at the same depth and not have to screw with a TM.

On the trolling motor, I'm a Minn Kota fan. They will probably recommend a 80 lb thrust, but I'd go with the 112 for a 22 ft boat. The 80 will have a hard time moving the boat if the winds are over 20 mph. Get the I-pilot or the I-pilot link. It will let you fish instead of jack with the TM. They also have a new saltwater model that deploys and stows the motor at the push of the button. It's not cheap, but it will be just the ticket given your bad back. The I-pilot link will hook up to most of the Humminbird depth finders and will let you follow depth contours on the map as well as control the motor from the screen. I'm sure that MG/Lowrance have similar technologies.

For Batteries I've been very happy with the blue top Optima's. I will never buy another lead acid marine battery again.

Hope this helps and post some pics of your new rig when you get her!

Im digging all the info!!!! Thank you guys for taking the time to respond.

Anybody have any good or bad things to say about Sea Deck. I know its expensive. For my wife's and kids comfort when I make the stay on the boat 1-6 hours at a time. I will pay to extend my play time.

Gonna take a peek at the MK and the Lowrance units. I think that I am just need to make a trip to bass pro and have one of the guys walk me through each. I bet I can make my mind up give a side by side comparison and what will work best for the pea sized brain that I have.

I agree with Halffast on the 36 volt TM on a 22' hull, especially in a strong wind, or current.

I have an Atlas jackplate and have had no issues out of it. I like the fact that I don't have a separate pump and hydraulic lines to run to it since its a self contained unit.

I have the 8' powerpole and it is worth every penny. Just use common sense when using it and you should be good. For windy choppy days I use my Fortress anchor as well to point my bow into the wind/chop.

SeaDek is nice, holds up well and it cleans easily with a pressure washer. I would not get their helm pad though. I tried out several of different brands and I finally spent the extra money and got a product called SeaShocks made by a company called Skydex. In my opinion it is the best helm pad around especially when it gets choppy.

As far as trolling motors go the Minkota Ulterra self deploying units are really nice but pricey. I have been in a few boats with them and I was impressed. It's on my list but not on my boat yet.

I would get a good gps unit (I like the Lowrance Touch units).

I also carry a set of jumper cables, a spare prop and prop wrench, a small set of hand tools, an extra fuel/water seperator filter, and some extra fluids (hydraulic, oil, etc.)

Other items to consider are an: LED light bar if you run at night or before daylight, a wading ladder if you do much wade fishing.

Thanks B & C. Pricey is the name of this game on the new level. Its just narrowing the field of what is working best with everybody else. I will look in to SeaShocks. Have never heard of them before.

Those are great additions to my bail out bag. Thanks for you input.
