Much better surf fishing today. I drove SBH in the morning and water was still ugly. I then headed north and hit the sand at Newport Beach Rd. I fished working north and finally hit a spot where I caught 14 Pomps that were 10 to 15 inches. I also caught whiting and one Black Drum. Bait was frozen shrimp that I halved.
I did keep three today I usually Catch and Release. But my taste buds said yum. |

That makes sense with what I saw north of Access Rd. 2. Short of the Fish Pass jetties, the waves breaking on the 3rd bar were a really nice emerald green, with the brown nasty stuff in close.
Last nights tide had a good bit of 'brown floating plant material' at the high tide line, but it wasn't coming in at low tide. Was the weed an issue (I mean with 14 pomps and all, I suppose you 'powered through it"!!!!!). |

| Weed were not an issue, only an occasional clump with whip coral. The big root pods that have been a PIA took the day off. Water was dirty in close but I was able to cast to the edge of the mud line where dirty and clear were mixing. |
