Was wondering if someone could provide an update on the red tide situation. We were planning on coming down from Austin and setting up base camp down behind Bob Hall Pier and fishing the surf, pier, and bay in the yaks. If the red tide is present then plan B is to head to Matagorda. Any info helps.

Thanks,

When do you plan on coming down?

The tides are a little high but the cold front on Thursday should blow it out a little. The red tide reports are pretty good. I live on Laguna Shores rd and this morning I have not noticed a increase in dead fish really none at all. I may have to do a drive about and check out the area. I'm pretty sure others will be chiming in with reports from here and there. Keep and eye on the weather reports.

Thanks for the update ironmanstan. Weather is saying the front should hit the hill country Thursday afternoon which really means Thursday night, so you guys will prob get it Friday morning. Hopefully it helps to push some of that crap out. Any who, I'm still on the fence. I would much rather go to Corpus over Matagorda, lots more to do and i'm more familiar with the area. But the goal is to catch some fish. Would hate to waste a trip. But thanks again for the update.

The small kill along Laguna Shores seems to have played out. A water sample taken from that area today showed very low concentrations-and no fresh dead fish washing in. The concentrations in CC Bay are still noticeable (visually) along the SE shore towards the marina. A small kill was spotted in the McGee Beach / L-Head area. Same for the East and North parts of the bay (Indian Point Pier, Ingleside area). Still there, but low concentrations and no noticeable irritations.

The Gulf is pretty good concentration-wise (very low to nothing found), although the fishing seems to have turned off with the dirty water along the beach.

Hoping this years 'event' has come and gone. Good luck to you, where-ever your destination turns out to be.

Any ideas on why the Laguna Shores kill was isolated to such a small area?

I saw the birds feeding on the fish last Thurs/Fri but not this week.
