I wanted to drag my old Alumacraft 1756 down there but never ended up executing. Pretty sure the massive craters in that road to Y would have eaten those little trailer tires for breakfast. I think the ramp would have been fine, but on a scouting trip I went in and there was no water to get out of the pass after launching so was always afraid to drag the boat down and find that.

We've not had any issues parking at BiB for a couple days cabin trips, but then that's what insurance is for I guess.

LOL, cameras is an understatement really. More of a digital probing every time you go in there. I don't know what all they have there, but there are at least 5 eletronic devices on the entry and exit.

Are we the only ones that make faces and do stupid poo poo while rolling through the cameras? I may or may not have approved someone mooning from the passenger seat...

I have launched there several times....
The water coming out of the pass is less than a foot deep so you need to be on plane within 50 to 75 feet from the old bulkhead....I learned the hard way.

I tried to idle out once and quickly got stuck. I jumped out to try and push and sank to my waist in the most horrible smelling black mud. I wasn't making any progress so my buddy jumped in to to help. We started to get the boat moving inch by inch. We could see that we only had like 2 boat lengths until deeper water when we both sank to about chest deep. We were stirring up the mud and it was bubbling the most horrible smell. All of a sudden my buddy and I looked at each other and he looked in distress. I was so out of breath I felt like I was going to pass out. I pulled my self in the boat as mush as I could but was only able to get my arms and head in. My buddy did the same. We stayed in that position until we caught our breath. We tried to push the boat again but quickly lost our breath again and this time we slowly climbed in the boat using every ounce of energy we had left. We both felt extremely exhausted and nauseous. We were both kinda freaked out and didn't understand why we almost drowned in a foot of water and 5 of feet mud. We noticed that the was water was still bubbling behind the boat where we had pushed it. We came up with the conclusion the there was some kind of gas coming out if the mud maybe from the rotting bay grass. Methane maybe? And the gas was displacing the oxygen causing get us to lose out breath and make us nauseous.

At this point we were close to deeper water so I started the motor and hammered the throttle and punched through the mud ando made it to deeper water. We were covered in black mud up to our necks so we had to jump back in and rinse off.

I've never heard of dangerous gas in the bay. But definitely learned a lesson. On the way back in after fishing we just stayed on plane all the way to the bulk head and didn't have a problem.

Dragging a boat through the pass and launching is a pain but has always been worth it.

I wonder if H2S levels get high enough to be harmful...10-20 ppm?

A friend pulled a Gheenoe down to Yarborough - launched - then had his outboard fall off the transom into a fairly deep part of the bay. The screw mounts for the outboard probably loosened up on the rough ride down the beach. Good idea to check on that if you don't have motor bolted throuh to the transom.
