We tried to launch at Conn Brown this morning and the engine would not run. Brought it back to the house and started tinkering, the mason jar test shows that I have about 10 gallons of gas that is about %30 water. This is gas I bought in Austin a few weeks ago and treated with Stabil so I think it was already separating when I bought it.
I've drained the carbs and pumped fresh gas thru the engine so maybe it will work, but the problem now is where do I find someone local that takes contaminated gas so I can get my fuel tanks back? Any ideas? |

did you pull the bowl screws out of the bottom of your carbs and shoot some carb cleaner in there as well? .....the water will sit in the bowls and keep the float from working correctly....plus you don't want the water to blow a hole in your piston
separate the gas from the water and give it away....or put it back in and go burn it....LOL....no easy task....or put a few gallons at a time in your truck....I mean, they're all "Flex-fuel" nowadays, right? ha!

I think everyone dumps their old gas on Tyler's street. That's what I heard anyway. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

I pulled the carbs completely. It's easy to do on a Honda. Flushed the pump and lines too. Took it out to the NAS and putted around out there for a bit. It's fixed. The only issue now is I'm limited to the 3 gal tank I use with the kicker.
In the past I disposed of bad gas by burning it in a Tiki torch. Not an option here. |

| I think Turf and Irrigation on Airline takes old gas. Not sure how that works, just something my dad was saying when we were working on our generators. |

Saw your post....the landfill in Corpus over off Crosstown Extension takes gas, coolant, etc etc. There's no charge and you'll be dumping your tanks into open lid 55 gallon drums there. Free 3 months ago anyway, don't even wanna get into how I know all this. Good luck. _________________ Protect Padre at all costs for future generations to use and enjoy and never forget our freedoms aren't free.

I had posted this same question last year. City will not let you pour gas into their drums. They, as recently as 2 weeks ago, say that you must leave it in the container you bring it in. They request you bring it in 1 gallon containers, but whatever container it is in, you are required to leave the container behind.
One of the local boat shops said they would do it but only if they pumped it out of the boat directly into their tank. They would not take the gas I already had pumped out. Safety and liability issue with pouring the gas from one container to the other. I believe it was Premier. Didn't discuss the fee associated with their pumping the gas out.
Good luck and where does Tyler live? I still have bad gas to get rid of....... |

| Follow up post. I have tried multiple times at the city landfill, because I had hoped to find a reasonable guy that would let me pour the gas from my 6 gallon boat tanks into their drum. Got a no every time. Haven't found that good guy yet. And I am not leaving my tanks behind. Now in process of getting my hands on several metal 5 gallon buckets with lids. |

Just let it sit and be still for a day or two. Water is 8 lbs a gallon and gasoline is 6 lbs per gallon. The heavier water will sink to the bottom. It will become a layer of water on the bottom and fuel on the top. Put a siphon hose to the bottom and siphon off water till you see gas. Your done. My boat has sunk a few times in lake Buchanan in storms so I have done this more than once.
