Friday I hit the beach and paddled out to check some of the usual rigs. When the fishing was slow, I paddled out a few more miles to some other rigs. Then I saw a shrimper anchored farther out, so I paddled a couple more miles out to see what kind of fish were there. It was a great day of solo paddling, but it sure is a long paddle back to the beach when your truck is parked somewhere over the horizon! It turns out that 23 miles, much of it in pretty strong currrents, is enough to make me sore. As I sat at graduation ceremonies that night watching my students walk the stage I was one tired puppy, but I will always have the memory of one more adventure that was well worth the effort.

On the beach a couple stopped to talk to me as I loaded gear into the truck, and when they asked where I was fishing I pointed out some of the landmarks as they shared a look of disbelief. "Where's the shrimp boat?" I told them it was over the horizon but plainly visible from that tiny rig in the distance... Very Happy

That's a lot of paddling though I saw some folks on Glenoak logged a few miles in their kayaks Smile Too soon? Laughing

Hahaha, Dean Thomas and his gal paddled down to HEB in Aransas Pass Sunday. Lots of South Texas was under water for a while.

Ouch, I feel ya. I was in a major auto accident ten years ago, and after neck surgery and recovery I decided I was going to make an effort to live a life with more adventure. I bought a kayak and life has been more interesting ever since!

You know, there is a new Santa Cruz model coming out that uses the Hobie Mirage drive. I will have a video coming soon since mine is due here in a couple of weeks. That might be an answer to your issues and let you get back on the water. Not trying to sell kayaks, just a thought...
