I'm guessing not. Is it worth it? I don't know. The same rod is about $100 more. Might give it a try, carry on, chip chip, and all that.

That's not a bad deal... I would like to build a fly rod someday but right now it is difficult for me to justify doing it because I know I will break it. Laughing

Let us know if you pull the trigger on that kit.

I've built some conventional rods but haven't done a fly rod yet. Any time I get goes to tying which isn't that often. You can also check out mudhole.com they have kits as well.

So I've been watching Ebay for two weeks now, bid on one rod, lost it. Here's my take. It's hard to find a match for what you want. And, when you do, it's the same match for everybody else and the price goes up in the bidding process.

Fly rods are very easy to build and look good with little or no decorative trim if you are a beginner. I would go without a kit and pick the components individually. That way you are getting what you want. It might take more planning up front but the final product will be more to your liking. For example; the kit comes with a superfine grip. If you are going with a 6wt or higher I'd want a full wells grip. Skip Morris has a book, Custom Graphite Fly Rod that goes over everything.
