Water color looked great, baitfish everywhere. Nothing but jacks and macs beyond shark shack. Moved into the surf, my nephew caught a saddle blanket flounder. Hit one more channel hole on the way back to the docks, no success. Talked to a local named Jerry (a regular on the rocks) to discuss our lack of success.
One of the things I enjoy about fishing the NJ is that I learn something every trip. Jerry stated he believed a flat surf around the jetties tended to scatter the fish.
Hit the pack SJ the following morning and it did not take long for us to pack up and come up with a plan B.
Plan B, Oso bridge. It was on catching a nice mix of trout, reds and flounder. |
