You're correct. It's not official, as yet, but parties are together finalizing things at this time. _________________ "I do hunt and I do fish and I do not apologize to anyone that I hunt and fish." - Norman Schwarzkopf |

odd deal. I think I'd be concerned if I had an SCB on order. Shallowsport builds a good boat, but they're not exactly known for high performance, light weight go fast boats.
I wonder if they're going to implement their own construction methods to the SCB molds, or use the existing process that Eric used? |

I read they bought the SCB molds/brand name and will build them at their facility in Los Fresnos.
I went to high school with the owner Rex Hudson (who has retired) and I believe his son and family are running it now. His Dad Willis owned the old Falcon boat company out of Houston before he started Shallowsport. I can say you won't find a better built boat than what they build. These guys know how to build a great boat!
I would not be at all concerned if I had an SCB on order right now. |

Clarification on something that is being perceive wrong...
From the SCB facebook page...
Eric Simmons is the Founder of Simmons Custom Boats in 2003. His father John Earl Simmons became Primary Member in 2006.
Eric Simmons had nothing to do with the sell of Simmons Custom Boats.
In fact, the sell of the company to Shallow Sport was done entirely behind his back and designed to cut Eric out of any part of the deal buy his dad to intentionally hurt Eric, Wife & 3 kids.
John Earl Simmons acted w, extremely malicious & hurtful intent to Eric.
A SCB is more than a sticker on a side of a boat.
The Original Simmons Custom Boats will be back. _________________

Shallow Sport is a family business. Willias Hudson - Rex & Connie - now Wes & Kyra Hudson.
They have been extremely innovative in the boat design business. From the original SS design (the Classic), to the Sprint/ Sport, the Modified V, the Latitude, and now the X3. They have not stayed with the status quo.
I feel certain that this acquisition of SCB will just go to further widen their customer base and the options in model lines available to them.
By the way, your right, Rex is retired from Shallow Sport but he now builds pangas in Panama. It's in the blood.
Come and watch the Shallow Sport Owners Tournament, at South Pbadre Island, May 20-21. The whole family will be there. _________________ "I do hunt and I do fish and I do not apologize to anyone that I hunt and fish." - Norman Schwarzkopf |

I just feel bad for the family.
SCB makes a great boat no doubt and I'm sure shallow sport will carry it well.
Eric may have been founder but unfortunately it doesn't seem he was the owner. It's all fun and games until the checkbook isn't lining up. Sounds like he ended up an employee along the way since his father was primary investor or share holder. _________________ Do not argue with an idiot. | Eric's dad posted an update for his side of the story on the shallow sport page on FB. Feel free to check it out and come to your own conclusion. |
