So my dad is looking and in the market for a bay boat and we are attending the Rock the Dock In-Water Boat Show in Aransas Pass. We have reservations to stay at Emerald Beach Hotel off Shoreline Blvd (so wife and kids can walk out the the "beach" while we are at the boat show) test driving the boats so he can get a better idea of what he is wanting to get. We typically go several miles down PINS when we go to the beach so i have a decent idea of how to fish. Looking for any and all advice i can get so if i have a chance to fish while at the hotel. Also welcome any and all comments about the boat show.

Fishing Emerald Beach? Good luck man. I actually lifeguarded there for a couple summers in college and saw hardly anyone fishing. Surf fishing down there is non existent and pointless I'd imagine. If you really want to fish right there, walk down the groin to the South and fish off that but there are a mess of oysters there. Don't jump off that wall unless you want a ride in an ambulance, just trust me on that. If you want to stay downtown go check out the jetties around the T Head and L Head and fish the outside. Shrimp under a cork can really produce there I've heard.

Within walking distance is the jetty that protects the marina. You can go out on it, although the city doesn't make it easy. It's a little blocked off but easy to get around. I know people still fish it and do quite well. Also on the other side of the hotel there's a small seawall thing that I've seen people fishing off of. There's the Cole Park pier nearby as well if you feel like dealing with that mess. So there are some places close by but I don't have lots of experience with them to give you a heads up of what to try.

Y'all should stop and see what Gulf Coast Marine has to offer at the show, I hear they carry top of the line boats like Shallow Sport, Sea Hunt,Shallow Stalker, Blue Wave and have some awesome salesman! (Shameless Plug)

In all seriousness we will have some solid boats in the water and out on display. Should be a nice weekend for it!
