Heading to PINS this weekend. Plan on stopping at Roy's for my last minute tackle needs. Is that the best place to get bait as well or should I shop for bait someplace else. My plan is to get some fishbites, shrimp, and mullet. Any other baits I should be using right now?
I know the fishing is spotty right now but need to get away and decompress for a few days and can't think of a better place. |

| Get a couple of packs of pink shrimp fishbites and start working your way up the food chain. No mess. No fuss. |

If your feeling lucky, you could try to cast net some mullet when you get there. But a back up plan is always recommended. I don't think Roy's sells bait other than Fish Bites however there are several bait shops along the way where you can pick up a pound or two of dead bait.
But if you go past the 22/361 intersection THEN YOU'VE GONE TOO FAR! _________________ "Money will buy you a fine dog, but only love can make him wag his tail." - Kinky Friedman

I've never bought bait from Roy's, their gear and tackle is the best selection int he city IMO.
If you seek fresh bait, there are a few that will most likely have live shrimp and other bait along with fresh bait too. I think ROy's is frozen.
keep us posted.! |

Yes...you are correct sir....Roy's does have dead shrimp along with frozen mullet and squid.
But if you want fresh dead shrimp plus other fresh dead or alive bait...try the Bait Bucket....they are open all kinds of hours. _________________ (( Living the life I was born to live.....

| I usually get my fresh day trip at HEB. Usually between 6 and $7 a pound but de-headed which means you get 40% more shrimp per pound |

What Zia said, plus U can get your fishbites also at HEB, back in the fishing tackle area-cheapest place to get them at--(shrimp flavor-pink & white.

I always just stop at Red Dot because it's on the way and easy. But we don't bother with bait often, like was said before we typically just go with some fish bites and spoons and get after it. Always bring a cast net for emergencies. _________________ JJ |
