| My friend, Steve, left his Bluewave at my casa until mine is ready. Big shout out to a great friend. Went out to my usual spots from about 10 am until 12:30. Water was fairly stirred up but lure fishable. Easily caught 40 trout but only 1 keeper, an 18 incher. That'll make for a decent lenten dinner. |

Been doing little better then 40-1, managing to get limits, but you're right about a lot of small trout. Don't think I remember so many 14 3/4, 14 7/8.
And seems they're everywhere, if we're not putting some in the box we move. GL. D |

| I have noticed lots of small trout also. I think that means we had a good hatch of trout the last year or two with the rain... good sign for the future. |

| Had a better percentage tonight off my dock. Caught four trout, three were keepers. Two 16 inches and an 18 and a half. Was throwing a white two inch shad on a 1/32 ounce jighead. Cheaper to stay home then I go out in the boat. After catching those four I would watch then come after my lure but not take it. So I switched to a small clouser using my fly rod and caught two more keepers. |

I don't get down there too often, and have never had a good 'keeper trout' day. A few years back, I took my daughter for a late May fishing weekend. We spent about 5 hours catching speks off of the Copano pier on Friday night. Her first cast was a double, and it was hot action until she was tired of catching and wanted to go to sleep. We must have caught well over 100 trout between 14.5" and 14.75". Funny thing - when we threw them back, it was a coin toss for the fish whether he swam away or got swallowed by the dolphin that was cruising the pier.
That was a great trip, but we did not bring home a single fish for the table. |
