| We visited the Quepos area a few years back in March. We took a charter one day for roosters and caught 4 up to 70lbs and also one day offshore and landed 2 nice sails. The roosters were pretty tight to the beach, so I think it could be done. A half day charter from our experience would be just fine, we didn't go far and all the action happened early. We targeted some large rocks using live bait. Good luck, you will enjoy it. If there's anything else I can answer, don't hesitate to ask. |

Started going down there in the 80s as a teen with my surfing buddies when everyone's parents were terrified that the "heathens" would kidnap us. Nothing could have been further from the truth. Absolute paradise back then with not a soul on long stretches of beach that were a dead ringer for Hawaii. "Jaco", which now I understand looks like a minature Miami, was just a few shack houses, maybe 2 hotels that were definitely on the verge of crumbling, and a couple of thatched open air bars that would have 10 local Ticos on a busy night. No paved roads... available acreage right on the Pacific coast for pennies. Sorry to drag on but it was spectacular and cheap.
As for the fishing... I remember that we would often find men casting into any rivulet a few yards before it met the ocean with white "Mr . twisters" and pulling out snook the size of our big uglies.
Sure wish I would have had a few more dollars back then to buy a large chunk of the coast.
Enjoy. _________________ I wish everything was as reliable as my cast iron skillet. |
