I am new to fishing past the jetties this year and just checking to see if there is much activity happening at the rigs just out past the Port A jetties this time of year. Are they good to fish at if the weather is good or water has changed to much and have to wait for it to warm up? Just checking ideas if I get a chance to go during the holidays or January if it would be worth trying to go to them.

Thanks for any advice

I'd launch out of Packery and hit the rigs to the south, if they are still there.

All the stuff out front of Port A gets hammered during the summer...you can find Kings/Ling around them during the summer but not much else.

If nothing else, run North out of Port A and fish Cedar Bayou. There are some rigs up that way that can hold fish in the winter also.

Not sure what your range is though.

The near rigs will hold reds, sharks and sand trout, the far rigs will hold just about anything.

The one place I'm curious about is the artificial reef out of Packery. I'm thinking it might attract something in the winter.

It shouldn't be hard to get a state waters limit of red snapper there. You'll probably have to cull some small ones.
