I just got back from checking out the beach. On the south side of Packery, the beach is filling up with dead and dying fish which the birds are not feeding on. Most of the fish seem to be shad. You can see many more flopping in the shallows and first gut. I saw no dead/dying fish on the beach north of Packery nor south of Whitecap. My eyes started stinging and I started coughing while around Packery, but there was no noticeable color to the water that I could see.

I took the cart South of Bob Hall to check out the surf just before the Cowboys game. We saw quite a few shad washing up around marker 240.

Drove from the pier to the bowl and back around 7 AM this morning. There were. Few dead bumper shad on the beach. The birds were eating those along the water line. And I didn't notice any smell or eye nose irritation.

thanks for the update....it may take several days to learn the extent of the fish kill....hopefully it was just a blip and this north wind got rid of it....
