I know that price does not equate to quality when it comes to live bait. Who sell the best quality croakers and what's the price?
I have seen some really poor quality bait the last few weeks, poor quality and high prices and a lot of it dies by 9 AM, it doesn't last long.
Thanks |

The beat croakers are usually not on the market. They are reserved for the guides and frequent patrons who get dipped from "the good tank." Don't mean to be a Debbie downer _________________ But you ain't got no legs Lt. Dan, I know that |

billings and marker 37 have consistent bait. If I'm doing any kind of trip, or overnight, I buy at billings. if it's for the day I sometimes get them at marker 37, mainly because I like what they're doing with that place right now.
worst bait I ever got was from Clem's. They won't let you look at the bait prior (same with cos), which is very aggravating. if I'm going to drop $100 on croakers, the least they can do is show you what you're buying. the liability deal is a bullsht excuse. they can bring a few in a net or bucket...
The final straw for me at clem's was getting a bucket full of croakers, and the guy sets it on the floor with THREE FLOATERS in the bucket... a bunch of the other ones were stressed, no tails, red marks... total crap. the lady who owns the place asked me "do you want them or not". I opted for "no".
during the croaker season, I probably run several hundred dozen through my livewells on the boat. It takes more than filtered, pretty water to keep them alive |
