I guess it would depend on the circumstances, but killing someone for stealing seems a bit rich, but hey, maybe you could do it. I don't know. I'm a liberal and really don't know much about it. Heck I don't have time really to study these things too much because I work three jobs and my wife works two because we have to pay for everything seeing as how we don't ask anything of Sam and don't qualify anyway. With all the time I have to work, it sure is nice come election time to pull that one political persuasion that shall not be mentioned lever. Saves a bunch of time. Now please excuse me; I have to go box up me and my dad's reloading supplies for the trip home. Conservatives... Rolling Eyes

Well, you know, there's always the option to NOT steal people's stuff and then there wouldn't be a problem.

Anyone know if it's legal to fire at them from the kayak 100 yards out?

Doesn't make any difference if you're in the act of protection of property in accordance with the statute. Read the link I posted to get a clear understanding of the law on the subject.

Dang...it did sound like I was whining. So, here's what I was trying to say. Not all liberals feed off of the govt. tict. And to be honest, I don't truly know what a liberal is. I believe there are those in our society who need our help, truly, and that we, as a people, should help them. I'm not asking for a handout, never have, and hopefully will never have to. I, too, have worked hard for the things I have and continue to do so because making one's own way in the world is honorable and the proper way to live one's life. Some in our society believe it is OK to take from others, and that's not OK. That's stealing, and that makes me angry too. But, and not on a moral high horse here, putting a bullet in someone for it is something I doubt I am prepared to do. Not whining, nor am I a thief, just stating my belief.
Rod and roll, my apologies if I offended you. That wasn't my intent.
As far as pulling the cemocrac lever, I don't consider myself a cemocrac as much as I am anti sea party.
I will be eligble to retire from job one in a few years, but I'll likely still work after that. As far as posting at 2 p.m., job one and two are in education, and that little break is quickly coming to an end. I took off from job three for three days to travel to East Texas to help my mother prepare for her move to Aransas. But, job three hours are 5 to 10 on weekdays and 12-9 on weekends. So it being the summer means I could post during the day anyway. Now taking time to fish is another story. I live only a couple of miles from the ramp and still have a hard time making time to go. My priorities are messed up for sure as is my ring finger, which I burned to crap hooking up a boat battery. It just now is starting to heal.

You didn't offend me at all. I'm a lawyer - I don't get offended much. I'm one of those guys that can call you every name in the book, cuss you out like a sailor (I was a sailor so I get a double double two star extra special competence credit in that area), maybe even throw a punch or two at you if possible, - and then go to lunch with you. After lunch we get to start it all over again.

But I absolutely hate thieves and would not hesitate to put one out of our misery if the circumstances were legal. Moral of the story - don't steal around me and you'll live to see another day. Confused Confused Confused Confused

I hate thieves. I get appointed to represent them sometimes, and the degree of stupidity they exhibit is often unfathomable. I've also shot a lot of animals and I know what bullets do to flesh. The problem with all this is sometimes the thief is a kid who got goaded into doing something stupid by his "friends" and/or the booze he couldn't handle. If I knew my hollow point was going to expand in the chest of a life long, committed thief, I could drop that hammer. But if I put a big hole in some mom's kid who had never, until then, done a bad thing, then I have to live with that. I don't know what I will do if ever faced with the decision, but I make mistakes, and I would hate to make that one.

I don't know what being liberal or conservative really have to do with this. Having been in law enforcement for 30 plus years I would only use my weapon on someone if they posed a risk to me or someone else and I had no other options. Me being pissed at them for stealing my replaceable stuff doesn't quite pull my trigger....

If it is, in fact, legal, I would drop the hammer on someone stealing my stuff in the blink of an eye.

The actual monetary value or replaceability of the "stuff" does not enter into the equation for me, at all. It is the utter contempt of the thief for the victim that I find intolerable, and so I see the hammer-drop as equal justifiable retaliatory contempt.

Q. Ever wonder why there are so few car-jackings in Texas?

A. Because you can shoot the sheboygan sucker that tries it.
